On A Mission With God

Our youth and children are on a mission with God! Earlier this morning, our Youth Ministry was packing up to leave for a mission trip while our Children's Ministry was preparing for their day in mission too.

The youth and accompanying adults will spend the next five days in Myrtle Beach, SC. No, they are not going to get a tan. Instead, they are partnering with "Sea Palms," a local mission agency connecting youth groups with various needs. Every day, they will spend time reaching out to people -- lifeguards from overseas, beachcombers, at-risk youth, homeless families, and adults with handicaps -- to share the love of Jesus Christ. They will also engage in worship and Bible Study. I am so delighted for them to do this trip, and I can't wait to hear their stories and see their pictures!

Some of our children enjoyed a briefer mission trip (only a few hours long) today. We spent time creating hand-made crafts for our home bound members. Then we drove from home to home. While visiting with our home bound members, we delivered the crafts, sang songs, and spread the love of the Lord. I pray that someday these children will grow into active members of the Youth Ministry... and then they will get to go on an overnight mission trip!

I'm proud of these youth and children, and I am so thankful for Salem UMC providing the support and encouragement for them to join God in mission to the world!

Every one of us has a mission, we just have to feel to discover it.
