Psalm 30 and Joy

The kind Staff-Parish Relations Committee of Salem UMC gave me an extra Sunday off... So we scuttled up to Lake Junaluska this past weekend. I went to worship at Long's Chapel UMC, located near the Junaluska assembly grounds.

The senior pastor preached a terrific sermon on Psalm 30. It was tied to a larger sermon series while also serving as the congregation's "Commitment Sunday" for pledge cards. The main word for the day... JOY!

So this morning during my quiet time, as the sun rose over the mountains, I read again from Psalm 30. The first few verses capture the status of my spiritual journey fairly well: God has saved me from my foes and has restored my health.

Such a timely word!

It is marvelous that God placed a word in your path as a gentle reminder that He is in control, is blessing you and has called you unto himself.
